If you decide to stop accepting a certain type of manual payment, you can easily deactivate it in Shopify. This can be useful if a payment method is no longer relevant to your business.

Steps to Deactivate a Manual Payment Method:

  • Step 1: From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments.

  • Step 2: In the Manual payment methods section, find the payment method you wish to deactivate. Click Edit.

Important Notes:

  • Once a manual payment method is deactivated, customers will no longer see it as an option during checkout. However, it doesn’t delete any past orders associated with that method.

  • If you ever need to reactivate the payment method, simply select it again from the Manual payment methods dropdown in the same section.

  • The process for deactivating custom manual payment methods is the same as for Shopify’s suggested methods.

Bottom Line

Deactivating a manual payment method on Shopify is a quick and easy process that allows you to streamline your checkout and optimize your business operations. Remember, you can always reactivate or add new payment methods as your business evolves.
